Chlorine chemistry is the building block of 60 percent of U.S. chemical output, directly providing over 300,000 high-wage manufacturing jobs and 180,000 service sector jobs. The U.S. chemical industry provides over 1 million high-wage jobs and is the nation's number one export sector. In addition, 280,000 U.S. pharmaceutical jobs depend on chlorine chemistry to provide 85 percent of pharmaceuticals. Over 660,000 jobs in the U.S. pulp and paper industry depend on the application of new chlorine dioxide technology to keep the U.S. industry competitive.
