Chlorine
Means Jobs and Progress
Chlorine chemistry is
the building block of 60 percent of U.S. chemical output, directly
providing over 300,000 high-wage manufacturing jobs and 180,000
service sector jobs. The U.S. chemical industry provides over 1
million high-wage jobs and is the nation's number one export sector.
In addition, 280,000 U.S. pharmaceutical jobs depend on chlorine
chemistry to provide 85 percent of pharmaceuticals. Over 660,000
jobs in the U.S. pulp and paper industry depend on the application
of new chlorine dioxide technology to keep the U.S. industry competitive.
