Electrical Workers Union President is New Co-Chair of ARCC

The ARCC is pleased to announce that John J. "Jack" Barry, President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), has agreed to be the new Labor Co-Chairman of the ARCC. President Barry said, "Our union helped form the Alliance in 1995. I'm pleased that the organization has grown and has asked me to serve in this capacity." The IBEW has 825,000 members in the U.S. and Canada.

In welcoming President Barry, ARCC unions and companies extend their gratitude to outgoing Labor Co-Chairman Wayne Glenn, President Emeritus of the United Paperworkers International Union (now merged with the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union to form PACE International) and the founding Labor Co-Chairman of ARCC.

President Barry said, "The ARCC provides union and company political representatives with an appropriate forum to discuss issues. ARCC union members build, maintain and work in many chlorine chemistry plants, as well as with supplier and associated industries. Obviously, labor and management won't always agree. But we do agree on some key issues. We support policies to promote employment, investment and continuing environmental improvement in chlorine chemistry industries. From the union side, we think America should invest to keep high-paying manufacturing jobs here and build a better future for working people."
