      CHLORINE:
A Key Element of National Security
March 2, 2002

Submitted to the ARCC website by the Chlorine Chemistry Division of the American Chemistry Council, an active participant in ARCC.

Nothing will ever be the same again since September 11, and that includes the role of the chlorine chemistry in our nation's defense. Along with American society as a whole, the chlorine industry has recognized that the new wartime reality requires a heightened level of vigilance and communication with law enforcement and security agencies.

Thus, since September 11, the Chlorine Chemistry Division of the American Chemistry Council has worked extensively with the Association of American Railroads, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Justice to assess vulnerabilities and address emerging concerns.

The following brochure, "Chlorine: A Key Element of National Security," provides an overview of the important role that chlorine chemistry plays in today's society and the pride the industry takes in supporting our country.
